Taylor Swift, in full Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13 1989 West Reading Pennsylvania U.S.) American pop and country music singer-songwriter whose tales of youthful heartache earned her widespread success in the early 21st century. Swift began to show an desire to work in the music industry from a very young age. Swift's career grew rapidly from children's play roles to her first public appearance crowds of people. She was age 11 when she performed The Star-Spangled Banner before a Philadelphia 76ers basketball match and in the next year, she began playing guitar and began writing songs. Swift took inspiration from artists who played country music, like Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks and now the Chicks to come up with original songs that reflected the loneliness she experienced by the age of 13. Swift's family moved into Tennessee from Pennsylvania when she was 13, so that she could spend more time pursuing the country music label in Nashville.
